As a past NYIP student, I highly recommend their programs for someone starting out. It is a “learn at your own pace” program and allows you to soak up the information as much as you want before moving on to the next topic. You can also check out the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and your own local colleges. For online learning, Lynda.com is a fantastic educational tool with several short video style workshops.

I’ve always been fascinated with photography, but never had the time to go after the dream. I believe you need a touch of creativity to take superb pictures, but that could just be my inexperience talking. :)

Oh 100% I believe you do. I started out in 2000 with my photography business and I can’t begin to tell you how awful my first photographs were. But with practice and really learning the craft you can focus on your technical skills and develop your own artistic flare to bring that creativity out.
